Plant based, oil free, dairy free, egg free! I use whole wheat flour for my starter. These are so good and filling.
Isn’t this beautiful? I am really enjoying learning how to make lots of different recipes from my sourdough starter. You can make pancakes with the discard from your starter. The day before i want to make pancakes or waffles I get the starter out of the fridge and feed it and cover it with a towel and let it sit on the counter until i am ready to make breakfast the next morning. It is really simple after this. After i use the discard for the pancake recipe i put the starter back in the fridge with the lid on it. You only need to feed the starter once a week if you are only using it once a week.
Ingredients:
- 4 servings
- 2 cups starter
- 2 egg replacers (I use 2 tablespoons ground flax seeds and 6 Tablespoons water) let that sit while you add the other ingredients
- 1/4 applesauce
- 2 Tablespoons honey or Pure Maple Syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
I love using a cast iron griddle. I keep it oiled but i wipe it off as much as i possibly can so that i dont have added oil in the pancakes.
Toppings:
- Natural peanut butter
- pure maple syrup
- cinnamon
- nutmeg
- unsweetened applesauce
- fresh or frozen berries
- banana slices
- seasonal fruit
- almond butter
