Sourdough Pizza Crust

Sourdough Pizza Crust
  • This is so simple once you have the sourdough starter ready to use. I used the recipe from Savor the Best.
  • I want to make pizza i take the starter out of the fridge and feed it with flour and water, Cover it with a towel and then let it sit for at least 4 or as much as 24 hours. I have also just removed it from the fridge and used the discard to make the pizza crust. It turned out great that way as well. 2-4 hours before you want to make the pizzas add all of the ingredients
  • 1 cup starter
  • 1/2-1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 cups flour

Mix together and knead 8-10 minutes and then cover for 2-4 hours until doubled.

For Thin crust: No rise is needed, roll out 2 approx. 12″ size thin crust pizzas. Put toppings on and bake at 500 degrees for 7-10 minutes.

For Thick crust: Roll out for 1 thick crust 12″ pizza crust. Rise 30-60 minutes. Bake at 500 degrees for 12 minutes before toppings and 10-15 minutes after toppings.

Toppings:

We love pesto on pizza. Sometimes i make cashew cheese for the top of the pesto but we also like it just great without it. I usually roast or saute some veggies like mushrooms, onions and peppers. I dont like to cook them on the pizza because i think it makes it too wet. Everyone in my family doesn’t like the veggies so i keep them separate so we can add them as we want.
